Samgauli Compressed Biogas Plant Proposal Puts Dera Bassi in Green-Energy Discussion

Dera Bassi | Business and development. A proposed compressed biogas facility at Samgauli village in the Dera Bassi area was listed among the agenda items for a Mohali Municipal Corporation meeting in August 2026. The proposal envisaged processing municipal wet waste into useful gas and fertiliser.

The plan described a facility with an approximate processing capacity of 300 tonnes per day and contemplated land arrangements involving an HPCL group renewable-energy company. These were proposals placed for discussion, not evidence that the plant had started operating.

Why circular-economy projects matter

Waste-to-energy facilities can create demand for collection, processing and technical services while reducing reliance on landfill disposal. Environmental review, project approvals and implementation details remain essential to evaluating the eventual outcome.
